My Japanese high school friend’s mom is a jewelry designer, and when they lived in Cambodia she had access to precious metals and precious stones. She used these supplies to make us some beautiful gifts one year, and I received a chunky, stylized, solid silver ring in the shape of a frog. The style of the fox necklace from Muizee reminded me of my frog ring, and I think that’s what first caught my eye when passing the booth at the Annex Flea.
Tomiko and I found Muizee (pronouced moo-ee-zee) at a stall at the Annex Flea a few months ago. The jewelry company by designer Briar has many nickel-free gold- and silver-plated necklaces, rings, earrings, and bracelets available online. With all the animal-shaped ceramics I have, I wasn’t surprised to be drawn to the animal-shaped jewelry pieces in gold and silver. I also really loved the geometric pieces, and found that the name of the She-ra ring made me like the actual ring even more!
