It’s a warm and sunny spring day in Toronto, finally! A perfect opportunity to wear a new beret I crocheted.
For the Sunburst Beret from Crochet Boutique: 30 Simple, Stylish Hats, Bags and Accessories by Rachael Oglesby, I used one skein of worsted weight, mustard-yellow, 100% wool yarn and a 5.50 mm crochet hook. I originally thought to make it for a friend, but ended up keeping it myself. Whoops.
It was quick and easy to make, and I actually finished it in one day! The pattern only uses chains, single and double crochet stitches in 14 rounds. Since it has a lacy pattern, it’s not the warmest hat for Canadian winters; I used wool, so it’s perfectly warm for a fall or spring day. The mustard yellow colour also contrasts nicely with my dark brown hair. You could totally use a cotton or silk yarn and make it more of a pretty accessory rather than a functional one.

This is so cute! You’re so talented 🙂 I suppose you could make a snood using this technique too?
Thanks! A snood is another name for infinity scarf, right? This is crocheted in a circle, so you would have to alter the pattern a bit, starting with a large loop, I guess.
