Ryan, Sami and I drove to visit some friends in New Brunswick. To break up the driving, we spent nights in Quebec City and Riviere-du-Loup, seeing the sights and eating delicious food.
We stayed in the outskirts of St John (different than Saint John’s, which is the capital of Newfoundland) and during our time there, we saw the reversing falls, smelled the paper mill, ate lobster rolls and oysters, and saw the outdoor stone sculptures in the works. We took in the view from the tiny fort on top of the hill before going to the town centre to eat lunch at the Saint John City Market.
The paper mill smelled very interesting – not disgusting but not pleasing either. It looked like a cloud factory, as it spewed out fluffy white plumes of steam that joined the other clouds in the sky.
Later that evening, we returned to town for a delicious dinner at the Saint John Ale House, where the landlubbers had oysters, clams, octopus and lobster, and I ate the delectable Kentucky-fried portobello burger. The meatless option at many taverns or pubs are portobello burgers, but they can be soggy and tasteless. This portobello burger, though, was intensely flavourful and crispy too. Why do no other restaurants do this?
Greetings, looks like you all had a fun time! Cheryl
We sure did! And as always, I wish the trip could have been longer!
