For my birthday, Ryan got me a Peugeot Pepper Grinder, among other things (all edible). It is a beautiful work of art that has pretty much the same shape as one of my floor lamps! He insisted on getting me a grinder because whenever he would cook at my apartment and would ask for some pepper, and I would haul out my 7-inch stone mortar and pestle and crush some out for him. I insisted on preparing my pepper this way for a while, but now I am in love with this pepper grinder!
Tomiko and I first heard about the superiority of Peugeot’s pepper grinders by a friend at one of our Crafty Circle Sundays. Then, we stumbled upon a collection of Peugeot pepper (and salt) grinders at the foodie treasure trove Good Egg in Kensington Market.
Peugeot first started making coffee mills in 1840 in France, but soon branched out to pepper grinders in 1874, and eventually creating hand tools, bicycles, and cars (which is how I first heard of the name). The pepper grinder mechanism is guaranteed for life, and was designed, developed and assembled in France. It even has five coarseness settings, from fine all the way to coarse. Amazing!
