Trinity Bellwoods Park is a popular green space in the middle of downtown Toronto. Locals often flock there on the weekends for leisurely picnics on the grass. The park’s most celebrated resident is the white squirrel, an albino animal that has become a legend in our city. This special squirrel has inspired local businesses- including a nearby coffee shop and the cute line of toys from Little Bellwoods.
Little Bellwoods
Little Bellwoods is an small but adorable Etsy store by Jamie Bennett. Jamie’s stuffed toys are plush miniatures of the animals often found around Toronto: raccoons, foxes, and the infamous white squirrel. These cuties are actually bigger than they appear in the photos- that fox above is 11 inches tall. One of my favourite features is the variety of patterned bandanas to choose from for your little critter to wear.
The white squirrel’s albino features are stitched in pink, such a cute combination in this plush toy.
This raccoon is standing peacefully among the birches. Those familiar with these urban animals know that a bunch of garbage cans and a dark alley are a more likely surrounding.
These cute little fat birds come with hats!
