Kiku Corner's Quebec Culinary Adventure

For Kiku Corner’s Quebec Culinary Adventure, Tomiko and I spent six days driving up to and around the province of Quebec, stopping at farms and roadside stalls to taste as much as summer had to offer. Take a look at our route we took through Toronto, Prince Edward County, Montreal, Quebec City, Tadoussac, and Ottawa, and the stops we took along the way. Then check back to see more detailed posts about each stop!

Day 1: Toronto ⇒ Prince Edward County ⇒ Montreal

Kiku Corner's Quebec Culinary Adventure

Tomiko and I started our Quebec Culinary Adventure on a Thursday morning, driving from Toronto through Prince Edward County to Montreal. We stopped and had lunch at The Hubb in Prince Edward County, then hightailed it to Montreal to make our dinner reservation at Toqué!

Day 2: Montreal ⇒ Quebec

On Friday morning, we bought some picnic items at the Marché Jean-Talon before our leisurely drive to Quebec City. Once there, we walked around the city and navigated the crowds that attended the Festival d’été de Québec. Then we had a late dinner at Le Billig Crêperie-Bistro, where we ate crepes and kouign amann, and drank Quebecois cider.

Day 3: Quebec and Ile d’Orleans

After a visit to Montmorency Falls, we spent the day driving around the Île d’Orleans, stopping at farms and fromageries. We bought a few cheeses from Les Fromages de l’isle d’Orleans and had a picnic on their front lawn. We then returned to Quebec City and walked around the Old City, including the Basse-Ville (Lower Town). For dinner, we had the first and only poutine of our trip at Le Chic Shack.

Day 4: Quebec ⇒ Tadoussac

We drove La Route des Saveurs de Charlevoix through the Charlevoix region to Tadoussac, with a brief respite at the Fairmont Manoir Richelieu. After stopping at many farmside stalls, we cooked and dined al fresco on cheese, bread, strawberries, radishes, cucumber. We also cooked cèpes and chanterelle mushrooms from Amyco Champignons Sauvages in Fromagerie St-Fidèle butter with eggs.

Day 5: Tadoussac ⇒ Ottawa

After a breakfast of crepes, croissants, and fresh fruit, we drove to Ottawa, stopping at the Fairmont Chateau Montebello. Once in Ottawa, we took a stroll around the Byward Market, the Parliament buildings, and then enjoyed a late night snack and drink at the Fairmont Laurier.

Day 6: Ottawa ⇒ Toronto

Kiku Corner's Quebec Culinary Adventure

After the hostel breakfast of eggs, bagels, and fruit, we picked up some fresh fruits from the Byward Market, and then started the drive to back to Toronto.

All in all, we ended up finishing four types of cheese, and headed back home with six more, along with jars of duck products, jams, chocolates, dried mushrooms, and syrups. It seems like we even got a lot of our Christmas shopping done. Check back over the next few weeks to see details of all our stops!
