We’re back! Apologies for being away for so long- we were occupied with studying and an apartment move. We’re very excited to get back into Kiku Corner and we’re starting with the holiday season. There are only a few more days until the big gift exchange. Are you ready? If not, we’ve rounded up a few suggestions for some last-minute gift ideas. These ones are targeted for your foodie-loving friends and family members.
Foodie Gift Ideas
1. A cheese you can talk about. There are classic cheese pairings like grapes, pears, or nuts, but this flavour combination will confuse your taste buds. The BellaVitano in the photo above is a great conversation starter because it has ground espresso rubbed into the rind. One bite is nutty, creamy, sweet, and grainy all at the same time and your guests will have to discuss the strange (but delicious, in our opinion) taste sensation.
2. An interesting condiment or food item is also a great idea. Meinhilde once got a can of Finnish bear meat for our dad; above is a spicy grasshopper chutney Tomiko bought him for his birthday last year. Strange and potentially gross will always impress foodies, even if they never open the jar (see seal still intact in the photo above).
3. A bottle of de-alcoholized wine for the non-drinkers or designated drivers. These Carl Jung wines are from Germany and are made from real wine that has had the alcohol removed. They are made like regular wines, meaning that the grape juice and the flavours taste like the alcoholic version. There are a variety of grapes, including chardonnay, riesling, and cabernet sauvignon. The sparkling version is also delicious.
4. A Peugeot pepper grinder. It’s on the pricy side, but it is the only grinder you’ll ever need because it is such great quality. One special feature is the setting to adjust the fineness of the pepper desired- fine, medium or coarse. How fancy!
Great ideas. I like consumable gifts.
Thanks for sharing on Monday Funday!

Foodie gifts are super fun! I put together one for hubby this year so he can make Mexican Margaritas at home – I included a bamboo cutting board and some limes. Ole!
