Last winter, I knit myself a Featherweight Cardigan. This summer, I cast on another! This mustard Featherweight Cardigan by Knitbot (Hannah Fettig) has long sleeves and a cropped length. Instead of the laceweight yarn I used my first time, I opted for a fingering weight yarn. The Loops & Threads Woolike is a super soft acrylic-nylon yarn with a beautifully saturated colour. I used the Teal Lake colour for my Crochet Field Cardigan last summer. It’s a great affordable yarn, soft in texture but rich in colour.
Due to my loose gauge, I used 3.0 mm needles. Since the skeins of yarn have such good yardage, I only used about 1.66 skeins for my whole cardigan! As before, I chose the 42″ size. The instructions are to knit the cardigan flat. This means I knit the body back and forth, first in knit stitch, then in purls. To knit the sleeves, I added decreases after 10 rows, 10 times. Then I knit 50 rows stockinette, then 25 rows of ribbing at the cuffs.
As the yarn is very thin, and the cardigan is indeed featherweight, this makes a great travel knitting project. I cast on before Tomiko and I visited Iceland in June, and also brought it to Alberta in July. I finally cast off in the beginning of August.
Of course, it always takes me a few weeks to get around to weaving in ends, but now my mustard Featherweight Cardigan is finished! I love the rich yellow colour. I must have a thing for yellow sweaters!
Ryan and I will be travelling to China in October, and I’m planning to knit myself another Featherweight! I’ve got Juniper Moon Farm Findley in Watermelon Soul and Green, so now I just need to decide which colour to use. I’ll just need to be careful with the needles on the Chinese airline when we fly to Zhangjiajie. I’ve heard that Chinese airlines are quite strict about which items you can bring on the plane. Since we are flying with Air Canada to Beijing, I’ll have 13.5 hours of knitting time!
The knitting pattern by Knitbot is available on Ravelry here.
That is so impressive! I love the color for fall and can’t believe you made it yourself! Stopping over from Claire’s blog hop. Nice to “meet” you!
Great project for a plane ride! Good choice in color for this one!

You make me wish I knew how to knit but truth be told, every time I tried to learn, I always messed it up by skipping loops by accident. Maybe one day I’ll take up the hobby again and actually master the skill. The cardigan is beautiful and I love the color. I’m actually thinking of buying a mustard sweater this year too. Thanks for linking up with us at #OMHGWW
Beautiful sweater. I wish I was talented and could knit but I cannot; I’m awful at it! Lol
Have a great trip to China! Happy knitting. 😉

This is such a beautiful sweater and it looks so lovely on you! Thank you so much for sharing on Farm Fresh Tuesdays! I look forward to seeing what you are up to this week!
Hi there, when you say you knit this Carrie in a 42 do you mean it’s open the way you’re wearing it or is it like a typical sweater that would be buttoned up across the chest?
The sizes are listed by person chest size, and the cardigan is not supposed to close in front, but hang open. Hope this helps!
