I love samosa chaat! We made this samosa chaat recently when Tomiko bought 100 samosas from Samosa King. If I were to make them myself, I wouldn’t want to waste them by chopping them up. However, if you ever find yourself with a glut of samosas, this is the perfect way to use them up!
According to Wikipedia, chaat is a savoury snack from South Asia and are served at roadside stalls or food carts. I also love papri chaat, which uses crispy fried bread instead of samosas.
You can use vegetable or meat samosas, whatever you want. The ones that I used weren’t that big; I can eat one of these samosas in four bites.
The cool, creamy yogurt and sweet, tangy tamarind chutney nicely offset the spice from the sev and samosas. The tomato, onion, and cilantro keeps everything really refreshing.
Mine is a kind of cheater’s samosa chaat, since I just use plain cooked chickpeas, not a chickpea chole. Check out Manali’s recipe here.
I love Indian street food, and we’re lucky in Toronto that we can get it at South Asian festivals. At a wedding that Ryan and I attended last year, one of the appetizers was a pani puri station! Amazing!

This looks so good! We are big fans of Indian food and we always get samosas when we eat out. I can’t wait to try this recipe but where did you get the chutney sauces? I hope you are staying safe and wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead!

You can get the readymade sauces at South Asian grocers, or sometimes in the ‘International’ section of large grocery stores.
I can’t imagine having a “glut of samosas” (ha!) but this looks good!
