The Blue Woven Cable Headband by Priscillia Uloho is an easy but impressive start to working with cables. It is knit in a bright blue aran weight yarn from Cascade.
The pattern calls for two 5mm / size 8 straight needs, which I used. However, I was reminded how I prefer knitting with circular needles. This is because the ends of the needles kept bumping on the table, my lap, my belly, etc., which doesn’t happen with circular needle. The next time I make this headband, I will use my preferred method.
The blue aran weight wool from Rowan produces a squishy and thick headband. The thick yarn means the project knits up very quickly. This headband is the second project I knit this winter break. See other headbands we have made here.
The blue woven cable headband is a free pattern from Erica and Eleanor. It uses an eight row repeat to produce the six intertwined cables. I made sure to keep my stitches on the looser side so that the cables were easier to handle. This pattern makes a good project for beginners trying to learn cables.
The pattern uses the cable cast on method and finishes with a regular bind off. Afterwards, it is seamed together using the mattress stitch, meaning I didn’t have to do my dreaded kitchener stitch to complete it.

That’s a beautiful headband and I love the colour. #MMBC
I love it. I do like a really nice headband and find them more comfortable to wear than hats.
