Super Easy Cinnamon Soap is the second recipe here on Kiku Corner where we flavoured a soap base. You can see the first one, our Honey Soap, here. Similar to the other recipe, this uses a store bought base and then added our own ingredients to personalize it.

I used a brick of Shea Butter Melt and Pour Soap Base from New Directions Aromatics. We tried a few other bases, but this one resulted in the most moisturizing soap. In this recipe, I was inspired by some of Donatello’s favourite spices: vanilla and cinnamon. We have these on hand in our kitchen so I didn’t have to buy any additional supplies, apart from the soap base.

In this recipe, I used old fashioned cookie molds to make the cinnamon soap. If you don’t have these on hand, you could also use an ice cube tray. I like the large cube trays, which I only fill about half way. The key to a good shape is that it fits in the palm of your hand and makes it easy to lather.

I used some of these soaps as a gift and they turned out really well. Just make sure that the person you are gifting doesn’t have a sensitivity to vanilla or cinnamon before they try it.
You can also try other combinations of flavours. A classic variation is lavender essential oil with a few dried flowers for some texture. I also like more food related fragrances, like a few drops of orange or lemon essential oils. There are so many possibilities.

DIY: Make your own Honey Soap

- one large pot
- one metal rack, like the kind used for canning
- one sterilized spoon
- a soap mold, or old fashioned cookie molds (see photos)
Ingredients
- 1/2 brick Shea Butter Melt and Pour Soap Base
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp honey
Instructions
- Add metal rack to pot. Add approximately 2 cm water and bring to a simmer.
- Add soap base to glass measuring cup.
- Set measuring cup on rack in pot with simmering water and leave for approximately 10 minutes or until base melted. Mix with spoon.
- Take off of heat and allow to cool for a few minutes. Mix in vanilla and honey.
- Lay molds out on a piece of newspaper.
- Pour melted mixture into sterilized molds. Allow mixture to cool and pop soap out of molds.

What a lovely idea – and those moulds are so pretty!
Ooh I love the idea of cinnamon soap. It is one of my favorite scents! Thanks for linking.
